Our tea ware
How should I use my bamboo whisk?
Before whisk your matcha, place your bamboo whisk in warm water for 1–2 minutes before use. This softens the prongs and helps prevent breakage.
Will applying too much pressure damage the bamboo whisk tips?
Yes, applying too much pressure can damage the bamboo whisk tips.
When whisking matcha, the delicate bamboo tines are designed to glide lightly across the surface of the bowl. Pressing down too hard can:
- Bend or permanently deform the tines.
- Cause individual tips to crack or break.
- Shorten the whisk's lifespan by putting unnecessary stress on the bamboo.
Instead of pressing down, use quick, light wrist movements in a zigzag or "M" motion. Let the tips of the whisk do the work rather than forcing them against the bottom of the bowl.
How do I clean and dry my bamboo whisk?
The key is to clean it gently after every use.
Rinse immediately after use. Hold the whisk under running water to remove matcha powder. Avoid using soap, as it can soak into the bamboo and leave a residue or odor.
Swish in clean water. If matcha is stuck between the tines, gently whisk the chasen in a bowl of warm water. Don't use your fingers or a brush to separate the tines, as they can easily break.
Shake off excess water. Give it a few gentle shakes to remove most of the water.
Air dry completely. Place it upright on a whisk holder if you have one, or stand it on its handle (your whisk tips/prongs facing the air) in a well-ventilated area. Avoid storing it in a closed container while damp.
Are our tea ware dishwasher safe?
Dishwasher cleaning is not suitable for our tea ware. To preserve the product quality, we recommend gentle hand washing and avoiding the use of harsh dishwasher cycles.
